So what’s in our Simulation Package?

• Spectacle 1 simulates tunnel vision. Tunnel Vision is common in sight conditions such as Retinitis Pigmentosa (R.P) and Glaucoma but can also be a possible side effect of Stroke and Brain Injury or certain surgeries. A person with this level of sight is eligible to be registered as severely visually impaired (blind). 

• Spectacle 2 simulates loss of half of the visual field in each eye (left sided Hemianopia) which is common after Stroke or Brain Injury/surgery.
• Spectacle 3 simulates loss of half of the visual field in each eye (right side Hemianopia) which is common after Stroke or Brain Injury/surgery. 
• Spectacle 4 provides an example of Reduced clarity of vision (just below UK driving standard) which is symptomatic of the early stages of many eye conditions.
• Spectacles 5 and 7 emulate reduced visual acuity leaving a level of vision of approximately 3/60 to 1/60 which is common in congenital eye conditions as well as Age-Related Macular Degeneration AMD). 
• Spectacle 6 simulates hazy vision with light scatter and glare (Cataracts, Uveitis, etc).
• Spectacle 8 simulates loss in both visual field and visual acuity leaving “patchy” vision. Symptomatic of conditions affecting the retina such as Diabetic Retinopathy, Retinitis Pigmentosa (R.P.) and other conditions, and this can simulate the more advanced stages of those conditions.
• Spectacle 9 simulates loss of binocular vision; light perception only in the right eye and reduced visual acuity approximately 6/18 in the left eye. This is common in people who have different conditions in each eye; for example AMD with Cataract or Glaucoma with Diabetic Retinopathy.
• Spectacle 10 simulates severe loss of vision giving light perception only.  A person with this level of sight can identify between light and dark but has no useful vision.
